Personally, I'm not a fan of the re-making thing. Most of the time the re-makes are rubbish compared to the original films, and Dambusters is an old classic and should be left alone really. Still, of all the people who could have been chosen to helm this, I would have to say the Jackson is probably one of the most likely to be true to the original.

Yep - and now you're going to have all of the young SF geeks screaming about how he's ripped of Star Wars... :D

It's so bloody hard to come up with new ideas.... all they need to do is read a couple of books. There is more than enough interesting material to be found about the second world war etc. Ah well, hopefully this will help make the genre more popular again.

I really liked the original film and can't wait to see the new one. I'm all for the remake.

Ah but will Political Correctness rear it's ugly head again, or will they refer to
Guy Gibson's dog at all? I seem to recall it's exclusion from recent airings on TV.

Rediculous!

I thought Jackson has said he's not doing it?
I understood Sir David Frost or other British actor heavyweight bought the writes but things havent progressed much beyond planning. There was a thread that explored the various statements in depth on another site and Ithink that was the conclusion.
If it happens, they'll just whistle the dog and call him good boy or hey fella sidestepping the issue.

edit: The Mail on Sunday came out with it in may but Jackson denied it in an interview in NZ in june. That BBC piece is strangely alike the may piece.
