There are some awesome models on this forum that I would love to see imported into games. Particularly aircraft to imported into MS Flight Simulator 2004. Although many of the models are either too high poly or done in NURBs, there are a lot of models that I think could port just fine. Maybe we could have a programmer to volunteer for the job of porting meshes to game engines, and have some email address where meshes could be submitted too to have this done.

IMO, it's just not worth the effort to import high-poly models into (any) game engine. A model that is to be imported into a flight simulator needs to be built from the ground up using low-poly techniques, with a particular poly "budget" in mind. While the subject is exactly the same, a low- and a high-poly version of the same aircraft are, for system requirements purposes, apples and oranges.
High poly models are great for movies, or detailed renderings, etc., etc. But they have no utility in a game engine. They overtax the graphics capabilities of any system, bringing gameplay to a crawl.
