Hi everybody!
I´m quite new here, this is my very first post if I recall correctly and I´d like to shortly introduce myself and my work. I´m 40 y/o, live in Germany, originally a graphic artist but not practicing anymore but for fun. My programs are Photoshop and lately I was introduced in the joy of 3D modeling with Blender! I use the version 2.60 currently and it´s quite stable at my rig.
At first I started with Blender only to get rendering that I later would work with at Photoshop but slowly I got into modeling too and I enjoy it! Not very experienced of course, this is my very first model ever, by far not perfect, not even good I could add but I´m a bit proud of it. After all, it´s the only one I can be proud of. Still a long way to go, modeling, texturing, rendering, I´ll keep update this thread as it goes.
If anybody else here uses Blender and wants to share tips and tricks on ship modeling, specially age of sail era, I´m all ears and eyes!
Nice to find this site, comments and suggestions welcomed!

Hello itifonhom,

Welcome to the ship builders corner. I think it was a good decision to dive into the 3D world, what a first model!
You have not chosen a easy 3D model to make but jugging by your start the La Couronne will be a fine ship.

Good luck.

Thanks scupper! So I´ve done some texturing, not anything fance and nothing to compare with other works here in the forum but for first time looks rather good I think.

She looks a bit low in the water here but I look forward to seeing her progress.

Haven't you still solved the issue about unwrapping the curved bottom part?

No, I haven´t but I don´t bother. That part is plain white and underwater, so no big deal. But I´ve read about a method in Blender to do it properly.

I'm interested about it. Can give me the link, please?
