Ahoy Guys, Another little Project Im busy with for a simulator, The Launch and Jolly boat will be sailable.
The Plans Used are HMS Ajax (the 1765 Version) and as the launches on these plans are not very well documented, Ive used the plans of "Pandora" for the Launches, and will probably also use Pandora`s Interior layout as Ajax`s Plans, again are rather limited.

RAF_Cobber there are many plans available on google.
The seperation of the Main Deck was not an easy one, there will be 2 models of this deck , one with Guns Stowed and one at quarters with all furniture and Paneling stowed below.
This is still just a basic detail of the Main Deck, there are still many Items to be added.

Still trying to get some decent Cutaway renders, seems theres no easy way around it, going to have to sit and cut the section to view through manually :P

This is a very nice model, I am sure you are having allot of fun building her.
Your internal views are also interesting but I find it is a shame that you are restricted on the size because the model must fit in a simulator. You are definitely good enough to build a stunningly realistic model which could blow our minds. Please forget the simulator and let your creativity flow.
Best wishes supper

Thanks Scupper, but as for the size, If I made it Nice and High poly it wouldnt run in the Sim and that being the ultimate purpose, Would be sad to spend all that time and not be able to sail it.
Mapped the hull and added some basic textures, the masts will still change and im not 100% sure about tje Blue Strake, I think I prefer it to be Black as the later frigates had it, mainly using HMS Surprise replica for referance to colours. Oh and the Stove is in :D

Having Fun with the Texturing :) The Scrollwork is coming along slowly as expected. Main hull texture is still only in basic stages.

Thanks Roska but I think this ship is a basic model, its just a bunch of placed shapes, alot of them.
Added many more lines and coiled ropes, Launches are mapped and seperated from the main mesh , will soon be ready to sail them both.

Looking really great! A couple small visible flaws in your sail render... the Spanker sail aft on the mizzenmast, I noticed, is intersecting with some of your standing/running rigging and the mizzen futtuck shrouds... the sail is too full, and should be deformed around where the sail and the rigging touch... also, on the foremast, at the foresail, the jibsail rigging coming up from the bowsprit is disappearing into the foresail. The sail, if that full, should deform around the rigging... also, be sure that your flag at the stern is the proper version, there were 3 in this period, depending on which fleet the vessel was assigned to... white, red, or blue fleets, with the appropriate field color and canton in the upper corner.
What program did you build this vessel in? Will you be making a higher rez version, smoothing out all your edges?

Thanks FitArtist, I do however do extensive research when it comes to textures ,I have all 3 versions of the flags and have read all about it, it looks horrid in those renders because they are in game shots, the flag doesnt show properly at all yet because base colours are not set. The sails have always been tricky to get right due to the static sail having to rotate in game, its almost impossable to get it not to interesect.
I use Sketchup to model, and no there will not be a high res version, my aim is to sail and enjoy the boat.
Did much work on the interiors over the last 2 days, Texture`ing, Refitting, and modeling extra`s. Looking for books right now that depict the furnishings of any of these frigates or period ships in general, pretty hard to find.

Baking these textures is a long process, Ive now Baked over 23 Texture AO maps along with the 23 Texture maps, some AO maps can take over 2 hours, and with a 22 hour power out yesterday it really doesnt help, here a few in game screenies:

More work on the Textures, The exterior is pretty much ready apart from the figurehead and the gunport textures, struggeling to get the same Yellow.
Dropped the Exterior AO by 20% as the ship did look abit Dark in game.
Still have to hang the Lanterns and Firebuckets, along with making the Furled sails.
Axeonalias
12-29-2011, 4:35 PM
Added the Furled sails and Fixed some more textures, Found out that the Upper Deadeyes where "accidently" Deleted 2 weeks ago, Lucky I have a different version saved everyday so I could go and find them :)
