looking good :)

some quick things that i noted:
in wire03, looking at the shield (lots of polies btw), i thought the shape should be a little different.
Also, some sharp edges on the bolean cuts in the headlights, ball mount etc
In wire06, you seem to have some overlapping vertex-shadows? *top right*
one last thing, i may be wrong on this one, dont feel like grabbing my books straight away, but im not too sure about the fins in wire05. Was that really the way those looked?

good work, hope to see more :)

you need to have your edges chamfered or filleted... it's way too defined. your machine gun ball needs more polys and your gun mantle less. overall, a good choice for a model and a good beginning...

you should be doing small edges on all of your surfaces.. they catch the light in such a nice way.. if you aren't sure what i 'm talking about let me know and i will demo it...

Harumph!
In a manly, tankish, sort of way.
Deap voice, military type of way.

i'll make a quick thing for ya... to demo it... it'll be here later on today...

here's two images. though both are horrid... they do give a pretty good example of what i mean using something that's in your scene.. note that yours has no beveled edge and is therefore not picking up that highlight that mine picks up...

so, even if you think they won't show up, they do add a little bit and every little bit counts... bevel and chamfer and fillet away...

so if i understood that i have to chamfer the edges to solve the problem ?

yep. or you could go into sub object mode and select the offending faces, then use the bevel tool and bevel them up and in. this works well...

Well illustrated, colin.
It's not untill you see a corner added that it's obvious what was missing. In real life all objects' corners have substance and react to light etc.

Looking at pic 5, what's the highest part on the engine access hatch? The bent rod started me thinking when it opens the highest point supports the open hatch over the fans. Just curious.
Also, did the exhaust armor cylinders have that many fins inside? The only pic I have is of a US restored IV-L-70 and it doesnt show any, but who knows how much info the restorer had on them. I'd imagine they'd be a part that vanished in the intervening years.
Looking good. The bevels give me a sense of the armor thickness now.

hmm... i think you did some bevels but left others untouched.... but it certainly helps

The hull edges look better now that they have been bevelled, but you need to look at the details on top of the hull - the air vent for example.

I apologise if anyone has mentioned this before, but I'm not convinced by the mantlet you've modelled - to my eye it dosen't need much, but something is missing.

Who's going to be first to model a Jagdtiger? Seriously, it's nice to see the Jagdpanther modelled.

Your model looks nice!
I`m starting modeling a Jagdpanther too. And the most prolems i`ve had with the basic design of the Tank, all these angels:\

Starting to look good!

With Mental Ray in MAX 9 you don't need to bevel your corners anymore - MR can do it for you at rendertime :)
