I do some freelance work designing 3D slot together puzzles for laser companies. This is my latest an EMD DDA40XX diesel loco. I don't normally render them as the client only requires a dxf of the flat parts. Model and photos have been taken by a very pleased client. If you are interested I can post some more.

Didn't notice this thread before... Good job! It's great to be able to have a physical, touchable version of one's work! What material is that printed on?

How can I have missed this? Looking REALLY nice. That is quite a puzzle as well I guess :)

When I was using the laser cutter in Uni I always liked the smell of it when it had cut paper or wood, fireplace smell :)

Thanks for your comments.

Unfortunately I don't get to touch the puzzles. I don't own a laser and the client is in the UK(I now live in NZ). The interference tool in Solidworks guarantees the design will work without making a prototype. I do own a CNC, but some of the parts would be destroyed by the force of the cutter.

Material is 3mm MDF. Although the client also cuts them in plastic.

Most of these are mine:-

The V1 shown below uses Solidworks Sheetmetal tool to get the flat pattern that bend around the fuselage. Not shown in the Flyer photo is the monorail for it.
