I took these shots yesterday at the Airshow where myself and Eoin "The Onion"
went and met up with Wiek, "Kiwi123".
The weather was excellent but unfortunately as the sun was pointing directly at us from the runway direction lots of my photo's look largely like silhouettes! :p
Anyway, here are a few of the better ones (resized and lower % quality for ease of uploading)
If anyone should want the original size shots please PM me. They are typically
2832x2128 pixels (roughly 2.2Mb each)
I hope they are of some use to someone out there!
Alan.

It was great meeting up with you guys ! And what a lovely day it was, I think that must have been the third time I've seen the sun out all year
Great pics you have there Alan, quite clear you had the best seat of the house.

So, now for my horrible pictures... my bloody portable harddrive developed faults (lost quite a few photographs), the lens I use is SH** (very fuzzy) and unlike Holland they do not start with the boring stuff first in Scotland. When we arrived the Mig29 was doing it's stuff when we were waiting in line for tickets. The eurofighter performed when we were in the traffic jam outside the base. All this when we arrived at 11, show opened at 10. Both of these aircraft I'd never seen perform in real life before. Had a chance later on to see the mig-29 anyway as it performed twice. The eurofighter made a reappearance when we were in line for the loo, trying to cover my sons ears with his earprotectors. That thing is LOUD ! So, didn't see much of it.
Show highlights for me:
- mig 29, oh so pretty (never seen fly before on a show)
- belgian f-16, what a display
- seafury, that sound is soooooo nice (never seen fly before)
- gloster meteor, wow, so manouvrable (never seen fly before)
- red arrows, seen em a million times, but a blue sky makes all the difference.
- mi-24, wow wow wow wow, looks cool, sounds even better
- chinook, again, seen em before on airshows, still amazes me how nimble this thing is. I'm not actually sure if it was supposed to land this hard like it did.
And some advice for you people visiting airshows and bring kids: buy earprotectors BEFORE the show. I've seen it before, kids crying because they are in pain, their ears are more sensitive than ours. Half the kids had earprotectors (including ours), the other half had parents that either do not care or were running around like crazy asking people where to get them.
The shops were pretty disappointing all in all. I found a couple bookshops, pretty bad collection. Other than that, people selling hot tubs, lip balm, perfume and t-shirts. Highlight of the shops was a guy selling prints of West, Trudgian, Wong etc. Was nice to see some good prints, my hands started itching when seeing some of the better ones. When I sent my wife in to have a look, even she was like: hmmm...I liked that one, if only we had more money......
Ben, sorry mate, got some pics of your dad, but they are not very good.

Hahahah, no, I am blind in one eye now though, followed this aircraft down from a dive, looked straight into the sun, magnified with a 300mm.....OUCH

Yeah, it was a cool day allround. (and very hot weather wise!)
I managed to get a couple of good books aswell as some nice photo's.
Oh, as a small matter of info. My Father who works at the Museum of Flight in East Fortune
told me that they had a couple of folk from WETA (Peter jackson's company in NZ) enquiring about the Lancaster parts they have there. Apparently there is a near complete example in New Zealand...
The plot thickens! :)

I saw Peter Jackson this spring at Old Warden during one of their airshows. He was filming the Bristol Fighter landing. WW1 movie AND a Lancaster movie? Let's hope so!!!
