Hi all,
I have many plans of Spit IX, but none with accurate fuselage and wing sections!
If someone has a plan of a Spit IX with sections, it would be a big help for me.
Cheers,
Buelliful

I don't have any myself but you can buy stuff from the Spitfire restoration website here
http://www.spitfirerestoration.com/pages/posters.html
there are some walkarounds on here
http://aircraftwalkaround.hobbyvista.com/spitfire/spitfire.htm
http://ipmsstockholm.org/magazine/2001/12/stuff_eng_detail_spitfire_ix_04.htm
that one is just the cockpit area though.
I hope that is of some use,:salute:
Alan.

Thanks for the help, but I would need more precise sections.
In fact, it's very strange that plans with sections about the Spit IX are so hard to find!

You can try at www.airwar.ru

Thanks, already tried. Unfortunately, the Spit plans with sections are rather bad there.

The very crude drawing on this site....
http://www.spitfirerestoration.com/pages/posters.html
...is more an "arrangment" drawing than a "factory" drawing.
In fact, it looks like some of the ugly Russian Spit plans I already have.

Looks like you missed the drawing search on the main site! :)
Click the drawing search link on the main page and type something like...
http://www.spitfirerestoration.com/data/previewtiffs/000000ML.gif
I actually have the full set of drawings (via http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Spitfire-Blueprint-s-x3-000-Mk-s-I-II-V-VII-XIX_W0QQitemZ270033379740QQihZ017QQcategoryZ112473 QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) but don't really have the time to go through all of them as there are 3,000 of them.
If you find a drawing on that site you like a better copy of, e-mail me the drawing number and I'll send you the full-res TIF.

Erm, yeah that's the bit I MEANT to link toIt actually doesn't let you link directly to the drawing search bit, hence the confusion :)

Ah, ok Skyraider, that's real, big and heavy factory drawings!!! I missed the link ;-)
In fact, I wouldn't need such detailed drawings, but just 8-20 good fuselage sections, nicely drawn like on a Bentley plan and surprisingly, for an aircraft as famous as the Spit IX, I can find such a plan (the SAM plans for instance look nice, but no sections).

Bentley you say? You can order them straight from him at very decent prices :)
http://www.albentley-drawings.com/spitfire.htm
...or use a magnifying glass ;)
Note they aren't fully finished yet, but all the important detail is there.

Still it ain't easy. Built my spit from a combination of bentley's and Sams, a lot doesn't match up.

Bentley often uses factory drawings as a basis though... I'd trust him before SAMI :)

I already knew these Bentley drawings, but I was rather worry about the mixing of all the marks: are the profils separated on the Bentley Spit plans that he sells? Because like this, it looks a little bit like a mess!

it is a bit of a mess like this, I just scanned them, took them into photoshop and removed the lines i didn't want. You can always mail him and ask if he could just print the Mk.IX bit.
