Hey guys! A speed painting I did last night... wanted to paint something other than planes this time.

American Shermans retake a town in war torn europe.

Good to see some new work, mate!

To be really honest, it's not quite as good as your aircraft work (tank fanatics will probably have something to say about the accuracy of the Sherman) but it's a nice piece nonetheless.

I quite like the title, but it doesn't make sense to me... American tanks "retaking" a town? When did they lose it? :) Could apply to a Battle of the Bulge related town perhaps?

Hey Ron! Thanks for the reply.

I get what you're saying. just keep in mind its a speed painting. accuracy is sacrificed for speed... I however try to keep the general shape correct... any specific areas that's lackin' ? :)

When compared to my "plane paintings", I think it's a different ballgame all together 'cause those were acutal illustrations. Again, This is a speed painting.

I'm goin' on a trainning session with Geoff Watson, Naomi Jenzen, Lawrence Marvit, Luke Brookshier & Harald Siepermann next week. Arranged by The Animation Workshop. (People from Disney, Pixar, Cartoon network and so on). And I need to train my speed painting before goin'.

I like the concept, but I have to agree with Skyraider, it's not quite at the level of your aircraft work. Having said that it's great to see some 2d armour work:D

Just commenting on the perspective part, dont know that much about shermans :)
-The front of the left track is to steep (the angle) compared to the right track.
-The tip of the barrel looks a bit tilted to the back.
-And the frontpart of the left suspension looks like its a bit turned inwards.

But other than that nice speedpaint!

Speed painting trains you in composition, lightning, color, values hues and so forth. Getting the right "feel" with a few strokes is essential to concept artists. I could always spend tons of time adding detail, but what I find hard myself is getting the mood, shapes etc right on the first take. Only way to train it proberly is speed painting.

Yep. Photoshop CS2
