Does anyone have any RAF fonts that work?
I've downloaded several of the web that all cause photoshop to throw a complete fit and crash, which strangely it doesn't do after I've removed those fonts.
If anyone has any on thier harddrive that they could share I would appreciate it.
Thanks

Well, Andrew, I had the exact same problem, the fonts Sky sent me were the same and also crashed photoshop. A very strange problem. The fonts also do not work in Word or any other software.
I got mine from various sources, including the simmers paintshop.

Wiek, yeah, fantastic.
I just need some fonts now, is it okay create a background photoshop layer with lettering on for the object?
The images with the object don't have any callsign lettering.
if it's a problem let me know.
Thanks again Wiek

I removed the letters so you could create the ones you need. What I did myself was project them planar from the side in a separate layer with an alpha channel (I then baked them back onto my main texture, but you don't have to). Should be easy enough to do this for the letters as well as the serial number.

Don't know which one your looking for, but I do have rafstd.ttf also known by the name in the font, RAF_PW_ATH, in a working version. At least on my machine. Mind you the name is the same as you can find on the website of the person who created the font, but I think I downloaded it before it got corrupted or something. The one from his site doesn't work at my end either...
His site is here:

Seem to work fine on my machine...

Well, it looks like this font doesn't work properly either.
Oh well, looks like I'll have to scan some in from my Airfix decals.

Andrew, can you tell us what doesn't work ? Maybe we can fix it..
andrew march

roshent, actually the only letters that work are: 'DGB' nothing else shows up in photoshop although according to the layer info they are there.
Very odd.
Wiek, there are a couple that I'd like. I'm waiting for my mum to get back to me but in the meantime can you do me T B, JK879. It's quite a famous one :)
Cheers

andrew march

See, the weird thing is, I had the exact same problem on my old machine (last month) after I re-installed windows XP.
Now on the new one the fonts seem to work, that is also of course with a fresh install of XP, SP2 and all....and I use the exact same version of photoshop and all other tools as well.

Very odd indeed, I really can't go through the fresh install path. The machine's only three weeks old and other than this little issue there's nothing wrong with it.

Do other TrueType (TTF extension) fonts work ??
EDIT: forgot this tidbit:
Errors in truetype fonts are not that common, since you have a new install of I presume XP32 SP2, and not XP64?, the most common error would be that the font creator didn't fill in all required fields in the font. You know the boring stuff like :
· Font Family Name
· Font Subfamily Name
· Unique Font Identifier
· Full Font Name
· Version String
· Postscript Name
The above fields should be in the font for 2000 and XP32, maybe XP64 requires another field as well. Best thing to do if you still want that font is to use a font editor.

Yep, these RAF fonts are the only ones that don't work.

Interesting. I'm not using Photoshop, I have Paint Shop Pro. When I place text, the box for typing text appears and the first character typed is oversized and for example, if I type a 1 first, it appears more like a capital I. Almost like there is something that trys to turn on caps lock or something. If I back space to clear that character and type in lower case, all the alphabet and numbers appear in capitals. If I start out typing in Upper case, either with caps lock on or using the shift key, the various characters do not work as you've already found. Like I said, I don't have Photoshop so I can't try this with Photoshop.

I've uploaded a rar file containing a PSD, which has the alphabet and numbers in it, converted to shapes as well as paths. You can scale these as big as you like (go to the paths window and you can fill em with any color, scale them etc.) that should be enough.

Ok, have some new information regarding this font madness....remember how I made the PSD for you guys with all letters and numbers ? Clearly the font was working on my machine.
Well, just tried making a new marking. Guess what...just the D and B were working, no other letters and when I was testing stuff, photoshop crashed.
So, after some more experimentation, I found out that if you open the font properties window, you need to make sure that all the T's at the bottom are DISABLED !!! I had mine set non standard text which caused the font to fail and photoshop to crash.
Problem solved.

Ké ?? I don't get it, what T's do you mean, and just the properties in windows? That only has 'read-only' and 'hidden' right ?? Mine still doesn't crash PS or anything else...
EDIT: Heeee, that's cheating, posting explanations when I just write to ask for them !!
Thanks mate, now I get it, it's a font issue then, the person who made it forgot to set something in the font.

Wiek, those T's get enabled everytime you open the MilMesh Header template. So utterly annoying!!!

Not that often then
Anyway, yeah, I was wondering what caused it.
