View Full Version : Arado Ar 234 B "Blitz" WIP
Hiya folks! Well, this one almost made me a permanent resident in the madhouse. This is where I've reached. The texturing was hell to do and there's some more work to be done on the engines and the cockpit interior. Comments and advice are welcomed.

Looking good faust.
Some crits (most of which I'm sure you are aware of anyway).
I don't know this plane that well but it looks to me like the canopy framing is too thick/wide, the fin too thick, needs transition joint on the engine/wing, camouflage colours need tweaking (see Jamies Me262 thread where I posted more or less correct colours) Quite a few panel lines and camo to match up yet and texturing to underside of port wing.
Keep up the good work, it certainly has potentional.
PS Some of these things would be hard to fix now that it is uv mapped and textured so I understand if you keep pushing forward with the project.

Having looked over the model I'm not satisfied with it. Probably will scrap it and start all over.:\

You do good work and you definitely have the skills. You just need to spend more time studying some photos of the real plane...it won't give you a perfect model but it helps a lot. Plans unfortunately don't tell the full story.
If you are to start over again, I hope you still have the low poly mesh as it just needs tweaking.

Hey faust your modelling is improving well mate from what I remember of your early work.
a bit of an OT question, I hardly ever see you on SSP anymore mate?
keep up the modelling!
I still have the original mesh, so I'm starting out from there. This time I'm going to look more closely at reference material. As for SSP System-M I will pay your guys a visit soon. Thanks for the encouragement guys.:D

Good luck Faust, the rework will be worth it and what you learn from studying photos and the plans will also help you with the next plane you do....bring your work to the next level.

Yeh, I've done most of mine at least twice or parts of them at least twice. Now that I've completed a few this is becoming less of a problem....I guess it comes down to experience which you can only learn by working at it.

It's coming along nicely gents. I'm going to redo the whole cockpit as it was glaringly inaccurate. I just wished I didn't have to Sub-D it in LW9, to get it nicely smoothed out. The poly count goes crazy when you Suddivide.

It depends what your subdivision level is set to.

I remodeled the Arado into a Night fighter version with some field modifications. Here is a test render so please add some comments or if there is anything my tired eyes missed out. There is still work to be done of course.
