Hello folks,
This is a link to a quicktime that shows the layers of Desert Spitfires, please right click and save as (1.7Mb):

It's quite funny looking back, how the background was done.

Wow, that's quite awesome Wiek!
The original layer of dust/cloud you add, is that hand painted in or is that from a photographic source?
Thanks very much for putting that together..much appreciated!

Actually, it's not done in order of creation, but by order of layer. Obviously I rendered the models first, then started painting in the rest. The clouds you see added first are taken from one of my photographs.
I wouldn't have guessed the original plate was so different from the final image.. beside the colours that is. It's very interesting to see how you did this...

That's very interesting ! I like that way of getting the main background and speed effect from a photo...Smart. Please what's the image size ? With a lot of layers , must have been heavy.
Asking this cause i've been doing a big scene earlier this month, 80 cm width 300 DPI, lot of layers, I had to cut the image in pieces to keep reasonable size for working...

Yeah, not much left of the original image to be honest, might as well have painted the whole thing
The image is about 7000 pixels wide.

Cool idea of showing the buildup of the image in a movie :) Mind if I steal it for my Tiger's Revenge image?

You must have been drunk when you got the idea of changing that original picture into your desert runway!
Very inspiring/refreshing to see this transformation.

Haha, I love how you turned an image of a marsh into one of a desert with a mountain backdrop. Great job.
I'll have to try downloading this later - sounds great though.

That's interesting, it plays online, but if I download it, it doesn't play. Wierd.
Excellent insight into how you work Wiek, or is it how you Wiek work :)
