Very nice, but they almost look to shiney :) like they're right from the factory :P

In March 1942 these planes were only a couple of months old and generally flew from carriers and were very well looked after. I've studied many photos to ensure accuracy in my textures.

As the war progressed the zeros flew from very rough airstrips made of coral in many cases which stripped the paint from them and they became very weather beaten under the tropical sun.

Zero's were so shiney, there are still many people who think they were white... *sigh* :\

Just to be sure: WHITE ZEROS DID NOT EXIST :D

Thanks Giant. I like this one best too. Certainly the most work has gone into my zero out of all my aircraft (although the 262 was right up there as well).

They do in hollywood....or was that AT-6's...doesn't matter, I think I got the color pretty right thanks to you and Akio.

Very nice image! Glad to see it posted again.

I guess I never really researched Zeros because I did think they were white until reading the comments here. :err:

EDIT: forgot to ask...do you use prop disks, or motion blur? I really like the look of the props.

The props were done via two methods. A normal prop disk was used and then another render was done with a static prop and the two were blended together in photoshop. The only way I have found to get volume into the prop. I learned this from Digiartists Brown 4 post (now gone).

Excellent!

I would agree though, that the Zeros look a touch clean - but a great render nonetheless.
