I have been working on this off and on. It is modeled usung NURBS in SolidWorks (by request).

I started with a full hull, but have cut it back as i need to tweak the aft keel section. I have found a couple of errors in the references. I kept runningin circles trying to figure out why I was not getting the correct shapes. (Garbage in, is Garbage out)

I wanted to see some progress so, I mocked up the superstructure. I plan on adding tons of details. I need to learn how to render, as i am just a modeler for the now.

This will be a slow updated thread.

Looks good to me. I have no idea how this sort of modelling works, but the results seem very clean.

I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Do you mind me asking where you got your reference from?

I have two sets of drawings(6), one of the HMS Lion and the other of the HMS Queen Mary. drawn by Norman A. Ough.

Really old school navy! Interesting project. What made you choose it?

Not too familiar witht the program you're using, but it seems to capable of providing some reasonable results. The blocking out looks good at this stage.

a small update I used a 3d printer to print out a 1/350 scale version of what i had done so far.

I need to get me one of those! Very impressive results Todd. Do you intend to print out a complete model when it's done?

The model machine has a layer height of .010", so I can only make it so small. I printed a full hull about half the size of the pictured above. It looked like a canoe. There is not much more parts of the model big enough to print at this scale. I figured I could take a bunch of stuff off of plastic models that are on the market in this size.

I am going to see how well the lower half of the hull will turnout. NOt sure how the resolution will be smooth. I might be sanding alot on the model. I will have to scratch build all of the small parts.

I can not guarantee it but if anyone wants a copy of your 3d model printed talk to me off line. One Rule your work has be to have been posted on this website (renders,WIP's). This might be worth getting other to post their work.:D :D

It might be worth talking to Gold Medal Models and seeing what PE stuff they could provide.

The model looks great!

Always nice to see that sort of thing! Must also be quite helpful, being able to physically handle the work you've done so far.
