Nothing to do with CGI this time, but we don't have a more appropriate place for this and I know that we've a few people into models and re-enactment societies etc. so...

In the new year, I've a photo-shoot coming up with a topic that would greatly benefit from the use of a flintlock, musket or some other generally powder-based pistol and long-arm i.e. a pan-system or similar must be obvious so as to make it clear to non-military buffs that this is a weapon from say 1700 to 1820. The actual year is unimportant, as it's really just representative for a historical content and is not trying to re-enact a particular year or event.

I've tried prop suppliers and replica websites, and for a single day's non-commercial shoot, they are all comming out far too expensive (i.e. hundreds and in some case thousands of pounds), even when they are willing to deal with a non-TV or Film company.

Has anyone seen any plastic / low quality replicas on their travels that might fit into this category?

I've got a line on a couple of pistols for about £15 each that I may well go for from a shop in Yorkshire, but they are a little on the small / older side and I'd really prefer a long-arm in the scene.

Even plastic model kits would be a perfect solution, as the final shoot may well be in a high-grain B&W anyway.

Cheers guys.
