Never seen a paint scheme like this before, it looks very cool! Is it just my imagination, or have you recently had a period of flying boats?

It’s been a bit of this and that

but I have a soft spot for water planes.
Regarding the paint scheme, it was not uncommon with the red beams on the ipper wing surface for these planes

Now that's a plane you don't see every day! Very cool Nils!

The italian aircraft design in the 30’s really had some nice planes, many which are little known.

Very nice and colorful plane, looking cool!
I feel the plane doesn't integrate entirely into the scene and it's probably mostly the lighting, the sun is quite harsh on the water while on your plane it looks much more overcast. I would crank that up.
Also, I would expect the oblique angles of the wings and fuselage to reflect much more of the background and have way less of their own color visible. So perhaps the reflection (or your way of putting the background in the render) needs a look at.

Thanks Joep, I didn’t mention it but this is a complete scene, all modelled in Modo, the sea, sun and plane. So all you see here is affected by the sun in the digital sky, illuminating it all. If I tilted the plane a little more against the sun, the reflections shines up. I choosed this angle to show better off the topside of the wing.
I guess the top gunner would sometimes feel a little like flying his fighter on his own, up there ..

It's odd that with that setup, the plane looks so dull in the reflections and integration. I'd expect it to be way more lively.
It's as if your environement/sky is not emitting any light or interesting HDRI texture. As if it's a plane blue skydome without anything going on.
